Judge orders gangs evicted from LA complex

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Judge Susan Bryant-Deason has proclaimed a gang-ridden apartment complex a public nuisance, ordering all of its tenants evicted.

City officials say the South Los Angeles complex has been a center of gang activity for two decades. Gang members living in the apartment complex have shot nine people, including two children, since June 2002, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

"This building has been a headquarters of death," said Los Angeles Assistant Police Chief George Gascon during a Tuesday news conference, displaying an assault rifle recently seized at the complex.
