Accused dog killer hopes for venue change

NASHVILLE, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Attorneys for a Nashville man charged with killing a Yorkshire terrier by punting it like a football says he can't get a fair trial without a change of venue.

Chad Crawford, 24, who is charged with the April 5 killing of 16-year-old Gizmo, is awaiting a judge's decision on whether the trial will be moved or if a jury will be brought in from another part of the state, the Nashville Tennessean reported.

According to police, Michael Davis held Gizmo like a football while Crawford took a running start and kicked him into the air. He landed under a parked car, where he died.
