Thousands march against gay marriage

ATLANTA, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Thousands of Christians marched in Atlanta to oppose gay marriage and promote their moral agenda for the country, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The march Saturday was organized and lead by Bishop Eddie Long with Rev. Bernice King, daughter of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Long carried an Olympic-style torch lighted from the eternal flame at the King Center, where the march began. Long told his fellow demonstrators it was time for the black community to be heard.

"We can't be silenced," he said. "We are not marching against folks. We are marching for folks."

However, the march was met in one neighborhood by about 50 protestors. The group, promoting gay rights, chanted that the march misused the image of Martin Luther King to push a "bigot" agenda.
