Kawasaki recalls off-road motorcycle

WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- The Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. has announced he recall of approximately 1,500 of its 2005 model year off-road motorcycles.

The Japanese company said no injuries or deaths have been reported with the 2005 KLX110-A4 off-highway motorcycle, but rear shock absorbers may have been assembled with an incorrect o-ring, allowing fluid to leak from the shock.

Fluid loss from the shock can compromise the shock's damping characteristics, which can render the motorcycle unstable creating a potential for an injury or death.

The recalled motorcycles are "minicycles," small-sized green motorcycles intended for use by minors and adults.

Consumers are advised to stop using the motorcycles and contact their Kawasaki dealer for a free replacement of the rear shock or call 866-802-9381.
