Ukraine official thinks vote was faked

KIEV, Ukraine, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A Ukrainian election official testified Thursday he believes the Nov. 21 presidential run-off election was rigged.

Ruslan Knyazevych, a member of the Ukrainian Central Elections Commission, said he believes the results of the second round of the presidential election were falsified by 1 million votes, Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

Knyazevych made the statement at a meeting of the Ukrainian Supreme Court, which was considering a complaint of Mykola Katerinchuk, a campaign representative of pro-Western presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko, against the Central Elections Commission's announcement of victory for Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, the candidate backed by incumbent President Leonid Kuchma and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
