OAKLAND PARK, Fla., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Federal agents raided an Oakland Park, Fla., clinic in an investigation of Botox treatment that sickened four people, including two doctors.
The raids may be an indication the public health investigation has widened into a criminal proceeding, the Palm Beach Post reported Thursday.
Agents examined and confiscated records at the Advance Integrated Medical Center.
Authorities suspect Palm Beach Gardens chiropractor Eric Scott Kaplan, and his wife, Bonnie, received the treatment administered by Dr. McComb, a suspended osteopathic physician who faces trial on illegal drug charges.
The Kaplans, McComb and his girlfriend Alma Hall have been paralyzed. Botulism is the possible cause.
"There is some indication that a number of the individuals received Botox injections in the days or hours preceding the onset of their symptoms, but a direct relationship between their symptoms and those injections is unconfirmed," said a statement by the Florida Department of Health.
