Illegals found working for Navy contractor

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have apprehended four illegal immigrants working for a military contractor in San Diego.

The four Mexican nationals were working for Marine & Restaurant Fabricators, a company that installs aluminum and fabric inside Navy vessels. They were discovered after their employer's records were reviewed under Operation Safe Cities, a post-Sept. 11 project designed to monitor military contractors vulnerable to infiltration by terrorist organizations, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

None of the men had criminal records or ties to terrorism, according to an immigration spokesperson. They obtained their positions using counterfeit green cards, and all four are scheduled for deportation hearings.
