GAZA, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Two Palestinians, father and son, were convicted of collaborating with Israeli intelligence and sentenced to death Monday by a Palestinian court.
The two Gaza residents were arrested by Palestinian security forces in July and were convicted of passing information on locations of militants targeted by Israel.
The pair admitted they passed information on the location of late Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike May 18.
Before the sentence can be implemented, it must be appreoved by the Palestinian president.
Arafat died Nov. 11 without approving death sentences imposed on Palestinians.
A new president is scheduled to be elected Jan. 9.
