Mass. police launch most wanted sex list

BOSTON, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Massachusetts police have created an Internet most-wanted list for 12 sexual predators responsible for 34 rape convictions, 29 of them children.

The offenders were chosen from 135 high-risk sex offenders who have failed to keep current registration with the state's sex-offender registry board, the Boston Herald reported Saturday.

"We decided to pick out the worst of the worst," said Detective Lt. Kevin Horton, commander of the state police violent fugitive apprehension section. "These people are predators. They are not going to stop doing what they do."

Four of the offenders have active warrants for their arrest, and two of them, Joseph Moniz and Reynaldo Gonzalez, are currently wanted for the rape of a child.

The state's sex-offender registry board has classified more than 8,000 sex offenders in Massachusetts, including 1,200 who are considered a high risk to re-offend.
