LONDON, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- In a rare interview, Prince William, heir to the British throne, told the BBC he's enjoyed his university life and is thinking about serving in the Army.
The prince, son of Charles Prince of Wales and grandson of Queen Elizabeth, said that his years at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland have given him a chance to live an ordinary life, renting videos, buying takeout food and going to the movies. He said he has had some strange encounters on the street, including a girl who proposed, Christians trying to proselytize him and a grandmother who asked him if he knew a good place to buy underwear -- he didn't.
William's younger brother, Prince Harry, has already decided on an Army career, starting at Sandhurst, the country's leading military academy. William said he plans to take some time off after he earns his degree in geography to consider his next step.
The prince described his grandmother as a role model and said he admires his father.
"He's had a difficult time and you know it's just sad," William said. "I said this the last time - I'm sure I used the same words - but I just wish more of his charitable work was concentrated on because he does do a hell of a lot of work."
