SINGAPORE, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A man jailed on terrorism charges in Singapore is a key witness in the trial of an alleged Australian terrorist, the Straits Times reported Sunday.
Muhammad Arif Naharudin, 21, is to testify via video link against former architect Faheem Khalid Lodhi, who has been charged in Australia with preparing a terrorist attack and six other counts.
Lodhi, 34, is accused of plotting to blow up the country's national electricity grid and planning a chemical attack on a Sydney military base.
The two allegedly met at a Pakistani-based training camp linked to a terrorist group called Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Investigators reportedly believe Lodhi was the main Australian contact for Frenchman Willie Brigitte, who is believed to have trained at terrorist camps on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Brigitte was deported to France last October and is being held under anti-terrorism laws.
Naharudin is believed to have provided vital information to federal police in Singapore linking Lodhi to the Lashkar-e-Taiba camp.
