PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The Czech Republic's Green Party won its first political victory Saturday with the election of a Green Party candidate to the Senate.

Jaromir Stetina, a war reporter and human rights activist, attributed his victory to the Czech public's disillusionment with the established parties, the BBC reported Saturday.

"Voter dissatisfaction with the existing arrogance of power certainly helped me to win," Stetina told the BBC.

The governing Social Democrats failed to win a single one of the 27 seats up for grabs.
