The bodies of Susan Peters and her daughter were found in their apartment in New Brighton near Liverpool in January. At the time, Peters said he had not seen his family since late December when he returned to Portsmouth, where he was stationed.

But investigators found a bloody fingerprint in the flat.

Susan Peters was stabbed and strangled, while 3-year-old Ellen was also strangled. When her body was found, her teeth were broken and a loan agreement was stuffed into her mouth.

Investigators say that money troubles had led to a breakdown in the couple's marriage.
