HANOI, Vietnam, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Norway's King Harald canceled his appearances during a state visit to Vietnam Tuesday because of a stomach illness.

King Harald and Queen Sonja arrived in Asia last week, first for a state visit to Singapore and then a visit in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The king canceled a visit Monday to Hanoi's prisoner of war prison, called the "Hanoi Hilton" by downed U.S. Air Force prisoners of war, and Tuesday he canceled opening a major business seminar, as well as an appearance at the Hanoi opera, Aftenposten reported.

Queen Sonja took a tour of Hanoi's historic quarters, but hinted she too may have been ill. When asked how she was feeling, she said, "I'm fine, at least now."

The king is expected to resume his schedule Wednesday.
