GAZA, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- A senior official said Sunday the Palestinian Authority is conferring with other nations to guarantee Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's return to Ramallah.

Jibril Rajoub, a senior security advisor to Arafat, said the PNA has been in contact with both Egypt and the United States, stressing that Arafat must be allowed to return to the West Bank.

Arafat was flown to France Friday for medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

"There are guarantees made by Israel to the world to let President Arafat return to Ramallah and such guarantees must be implemented," said Rajoub.

French doctors at the Percy military hospital's hematology clinic in Paris said Saturday Arafat was in stable condition and it would take five weeks for him to finish the medical exams and treatments.
