Warrants issued for Mauritania rebels

NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A Mauritanian investigative judge issued international arrest warrants Saturday for three opposition leaders accused of seeking to oust the current regime.

The three suspects, Ael Ould Asnib, Jamal Ould al-Yassaa and former army officer Abrika Ould Mubarak created the opposition National Alliance Party last July in Dakar, Senegal.

The judge accused the three men of involvement in attempts to destabilize Mauritania, undermine its security and attempt to oust the regime of President Moawiya Ould Tayeh.

It was the second time this year Mauritanian authorities have accused the National Alliance Party of attempting to oust the regime.
