HOUSTON, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A Houston-area woman was being sought Friday for allegedly cutting off her boyfriend's penis with a knife while he was sleeping.
The 33-year-old victim was recovering at Ben Taub Hospital and expected to survive, the Houston Chronicle reported. The severed penis has not been found.
The 45-year-old woman told Harris County sheriff's detectives by phone that she attacked the man because he had been unfaithful and subjected her to domestic violence. The detectives said they found documentation of past abuse.
Lt. Ruben Diaz said the man was not abusing her when the attack occurred Thursday. She had invited him to her home, claiming she needed to borrow his truck. He went to bed, then was awakened by a sharp pain and saw what had happened.
Diaz said the woman was still in the room when he awoke. The woman's 22-year-old daughter and sister heard the man's screams and rushed him to a hospital.
The woman has refused to return home and they have not found the knife used in the attack. Deputies plan to charge her with aggravated assault after they interview the victim.
