HOUSTON, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- A Houston jury Friday requested an index to dozens of exhibits in the first Enron criminal trial.
U.S. District Judge Ewing Werlein asked lawyers to prepare evidence indexes to present to the jury Monday, the Houston Chronicle reported. The jurors ended their first full day of deliberation at 4 p.m.
"This just shows they are taking their job seriously," said Bill Rosch, attorney for defendant Dan Boyle, a former Enron finance official.
The jury received the case late Thursday after six weeks of testimony and evidence.
Two former mid-level Enron executives and four Merrill Lynch bankers are charged in an alleged scam in 1999 to boost Enron's profit sheet with the bogus sale of three Nigerian power plant barges.
Facing conspiracy and wire fraud charges are Boyle and another Enron official, Sheila Kahanek, plus former Merrill Lynch bankers Daniel Bayly, James A. Brown, William Fuhs and Robert Furst.
