Kerry in Colo., N.M. and Fla. Saturday

WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- John Kerry was to complete a western state campaign swing Saturday with stops in Colorado and New Mexico before heading to Florida.

After visiting Pueblo, Colo., the Democratic nominee for president addressed a rally in Las Cruces, N.M., and then planned to leave the state late Saturday for Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he was to attend an African-American church service.

Also Saturday, Kerry used the Democrats' weekly radio address to discuss how he would improve the economic plight of women in the United States, with increased minimum wage and pay equity.

The comments resembled a speech Kerry gave Friday in Wisconsin, where he was attempting to shore up the women's vote -- traditionally a strong base for Democrats.

Kerry said his plan to increase the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7 an hour would benefit some 9.2 million women and lift "millions out of poverty."
