DETROIT, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- The family of Rosa Parks says the civil-rights pioneer would not approve of a lawsuit filed on her behalf suing a hip-hop group for naming a song after her.

"We believe our aunt would appreciate the fact that their artistic gesture was designed to keep her legacy alive and fresh in the mind of this generation and generations to come," the family said in a statement Tuesday about OutKast's 1998 hit, "Rosa Parks."

But Parks' attorney, Gregory Reed, said he plans to continue with two lawsuits against the group seeking billions of dollars for exploiting Parks' name, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"These lawsuits are only about money and they (Steele and Reed) are trying to acquire it from OutKast," the family said, referring to Parks' longtime caregiver, Elaine Steele.
