DENVER, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- The Denver Post reported U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez, R-Colo., posted a 10-point lead over Democratic challenger Dave Thomas in Tuesday's Mason-Dixon poll.
Forty-five percent of respondents said they would vote for Beauprez while 35 percent backed Thomas. Fifteen percent were undecided and 5 percent named somebody else.
Beauprez was first elected to the House in 2002, winning in Colorado's newly-created 7th Congressional District by just 121 votes. The seat is considered one of a handful of pivotal races in the country since the district has an even distribution of registered Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters.
The poll surveyed 400 likely voters in the congressional district from Oct. 4 - 7 and has a margin of error of 5 percentage points.
