Bush hits Kerry in weekly radio address

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- President George W. Bush used his weekly radio address Saturday for a dual-tracked attack on the policies of opponent Sen. John Kerry.

Kerry's economic policies, said Bush, would lead to higher taxes, higher government spending and more government control over American life.

He said Kerry's foreign policies would "weaken America and make the world more dangerous." The president said the "Kerry Doctrine" would paralyze America by subjecting national security decisions to a global testd.

"For all of Sen. Kerry's shifting positions on Iraq, one thing is clear: If my opponent had his way, Saddam Hussein would be sitting in a palace today, not a prison, and Iraq would still be a danger to America," he added.

Bush said his economic policies, especially four tax cuts, had helped spur economic growth. He said more than 1.9 million jobs had been created in the past 13 months, more than Germany, Japan, Great Britain, Canada and France combined. But he said there was still more to do.

Said Bush: "I will keep this nation on the offensive against terrorists, with the goal of total victory. I will keep our economy moving, so every worker has a good job, quality health care and a secure retirement."
