Wis. voters unhappy with Bush economy

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Public-opinion polling indicates Wisconsin voters continue to saddle President Bush with poor marks on his handling of the economy.

A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel/Capital Times poll conducted Sept. 15-21 shows 63 percent of respondents giving Bush a "fair" or "poor" grade on economic policy, while only 37 percent said he was doing a "good" or "excellent" job, a weak performance assessment that has persisted for nearly a year in the state, which has been hard hit with job losses.

The telephone survey of 508 adults, including 485 likely voters, had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
