LONDON, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- About $107,000 worth of jade objects have been stolen from the Victoria and Albert Museum's collection in London.

The BBC reported Tuesday that Scotland Yard is investigating the Monday theft and the museum is conducting a security review.

Police said thieves smashed into a cabinet holding the antiques, including: three small cups, two miniature animal figures, a bowl, two small ornamental plaques and a small ritual cylinder.

The ritual cylinder, dating to 1,000 B.C. and valued at about $36,000, was the most prized of the objects stolen.

"This appears to have been a well organized theft and the intention may be to sell these objects quickly," said Mark Jones, the museum's director. "We appeal to anyone who suspects that they are being offered these stolen objects to report this to the police immediately."
