CHIHUAHUA, Mexico, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- The new governor of Chihuahua, Mexico, promised to assist the investigation of killings of women in Ciudad Juarez, Reforma reported Monday.
Gov. Jose Reyes pledged to create a commission that would insure better cooperation between state officials and a special prosecutor appointed by President Vicente Fox to investigate the killings that have gone on for more than a decade.
"We have to stop this tragic problem of the killing of women," said Reyes, a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI.
Reyes also vowed to establish a new Chihuahua special prosecutor dedicated to investigating domestic violence and other abuse of women.
