Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist

AUGUSTA, Maine, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Maine's governor says he wants federal permission to import lower-cost prescription drugs from Canada -- via one of the state's Indian tribes.
Gov. John Baldacci's request is unique in seeking to use an Indian tribe, in this case the Penobscot Indian Nation, as the wholesale distributor of the drugs, the New York Times reported Friday.
Baldacci says such an approach would generate income and jobs for the tribe, which would keep the drugs in a warehouse and sell them to pharmacies in Maine at discount prices.
Baldacci has given the tribe a $400,000 check to build a warehouse and set up a distribution program, but has not said whether he would proceed with the plan without Washington's approval.
