Hamas rockets kill 2 Israelis

GAZA, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Hamas claimed responsibility Wednesday for firing a homemade Qassam rocket at the Israeli city of Siderot, killing two Israelis and wounding 20 others.

Israeli Radio reported the rocket was fired from the northern area of the Gaza Strip. One of the dead was an infant.

The group said in a leaflet the rocket attack, carried out by its armed wing, Izzel Dein Al Qassam, was successful despite the large-scale military operation the Israeli army is carrying out in northern Gaza.

Apache helicopters retaliated by firing eight missiles at the area, killing one and injuring four.
