Kerry-Edwards campaign returns to Florida

MIAMI, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- After a two-month break from campaigning in Florida, the John Kerry campaign has returned to the state with a promise of more to come.

Kerry and vice presidential candidate John Edwards staged rallies in Jacksonville and Orlando Tuesday, and were scheduled for more appearances in south Florida Wednesday.

"We are so proud and so happy to be back in Florida," said Edwards in Orlando. "Back to ground zero where we're going to elect the next president of the United States."

Kerry told reporters President Bush has squandered the nation's good will in the international community, The Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

"He does not have the credibility to lead the world," Kerry told reporters. "He did not and will not offer the leadership in order to do what we need to do to protect our troops, to be successful and win the war on terror in an effective way."

Kerry's appearances in Florida were his first since late July, although he made a brief stop in August after Hurricane Charley to visit victims and assess damage.
