LONDON, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- The Syrian Committee for Human Rights in London said Monday Syrian authorities have released two political prisoners detained since 1980.
A statement said Naji al-Safi who has been detained since 1981 to blackmail his brother, and medical doctor Mohammed Khoder held since 1980, were released in Damascus in recent days.

The committee urged the Syrian authorities to "release all political prisoners who have been incarcerated for their opinion and close the file of political imprisonment in Syria indefinitely."
