BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Qatari Foreign Minister Sheik Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani was admitted to the American University Hospital in Beirut Wednesday because of chest pains.
A medical source told United Press International that Hamad was hospitalized because the pain could indicate a heart problem and that cardiologists were conducting necessary medical tests.

He said it was not an emergency case.
Hamad, who started an official visit to Syria on Tuesday, was reportedly driven urgently from Damascus to Beirut in a Syrian ambulance under tight security and secrecy.
