BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Israeli warplanes entered Lebanese airspace Wednesday, flying over south and north Lebanon as well as the eastern Bekaa valley where Syrian troops are deployed.

An army statement said four planes came from northern Israel and flew over the south and the Bekaa for less than an hour before returning back south.

Another four planes came from the sea and flew over north Lebanon and the Bekaa without breaking the sound barrier.

The statement did not say if army and Hezbollah anit-aircraft gunners opened fire at the intruding planes.

Lebanon has complained several times to the United Nations, asking it to pressure Israel to stop its recurring violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
