Latest Tijuana gunfight kills 4

TIJUANA, Mexico, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A shootout that killed at least four people in Tijuana is believed linked to a rivalry between drug-smuggling rings.

A hail of shots Wednesday in the border city's Torres de Otay neighborhood left the two gunmen and two bystanders dead.

A fifth body was found nearby, but KNSD-TV, San Diego, said Thursday it wasn't clear if he was a victim of the shootout.

The incident came on the heels of the separate slayings Monday of two Baja state narcotics agents, which officials believe were carried out by narcotics traffickers.

The San Diego Union-Tribune noted Monday's killings occurred the week after the arrest of Gilberto Higuera Guerrero, a high-ranking member of the notorious Arellan-Felix drug cartel.
