Fur flies in Garfield suit in China

BEIJING, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A copyright infringement lawsuit over cartoon cat Garfield has been filed in China, the BBC reported Saturday.

U.S. firm Paws Incorporated accused in the suit three Chinese companies of publishing Garfield books without permission. The companies denied any wrongdoing and are contesting the case.

Garfield, a daily comic strip about a mischievous cat, is syndicated in newspapers worldwide. An estimated 260 million people worldwide regularly read the comic.
