British airline industry upsets customers

LONDON, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A survey by the Daily Telegraph suggested Saturday the British airline industry was failing to provide high levels of customer satisfaction.

Britain's largest airline, British Airways, fared poorly in the poll of 4,000 passengers. It has recently had a lot of bad publicity over cancelled flights at Heathrow International Airport due to staff shortages, the Telegraph reported.

The survey ranked BA equal to low-cost Ryanair and Easyjet for punctuality, comfort and baggage handling. It rated lower than its main British competitor, Virgin, on almost all counts.

However, the survey also suggested that many British people dislike flying.

Over 40 percent of those surveyed said they do not mind flying but said it is "not much fun," while one in six dislikes flying altogether.
