U.S. Chamber of Commerce targets Daschle

WASHINGTON, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce kicked off a campaign Friday to educate voters in South Dakota about Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle's record.

Daschle's agenda for America, the chamber said, is "vastly different" from the needs of South Dakota.

"Daschle has pursued an agenda that is seriously out of step with the needs of his constituents," said Bill Miller, the chamber's political director. "At every opportunity, Tom Daschle has chosen to stand in the way of legislative reforms that would spur business investment, grow the economy, create jobs and improve access to healthcare."

Over the last two years, the chamber said, Daschle has used his Senate leadership position to rally Senate Democrats in opposition to a host of policies chamber-supported , including pro-economic growth changes to U.S. tax policy, a new federal energy policy and curbs on civil lawsuits.

The chamber campaign started with a television ad that can be seen on the organization's Web site, USChamber.org.
