Grandfather slain; missing toddler found

MIAMI, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- A 50-year-old grandfather was found slain at his home in Tarpon Springs, Fla., and his missing 16-month-old grandson was found unhurt eight hours later.

A teenager coming home from school Wednesday found Safa Gul dead and Ibrahim Gul missing, the St. Petersburg Times reported.

An Amber alert was issued and the child was finally found by the owner of a restaurant at a shopping center more than seven miles from the home.

The boy was unharmed. Police would say only that Safa Gul died of "non-accidental, upper body trauma."

Investigators have enlisted the help of an FBI translator because many members of the family speak only Turkish.

Neighbors said the family moved in about a year ago and runs a taxi business. They said many of the family members drive cabs, including the slaying victim.

Police said at least nine family members lived in the house.
