McGreevy's delay criticized

Aug. 15, 2004 at 11:57 AM

WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- New Jersey's governor James McGreevy's decision to delay his resignation until November dominated many Sunday television talk shows.

In an interview on FOX News Sunday, Republican Strategist Mary Matalin said the Democratic governor's decision to delay his resignation till Nov. 15 was a "pure political move."

In a public statement last week McGreevy acknowledged being "a gay American" and having an affair with another man.

Also appearing on Fox News Sunday, Democratic Strategist Donna Brazile defended McGreevy's decision, "Governor McGreevy is trying to... allow for an orderly transition."
