Bombs rock Pakistani city of Quetta

QUETTA, Pakistan, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Six homemade bombs exploded in the southern Pakistani city of Quetta Saturday, but nobody was injured, police said.

The bombs were placed in various public places, including the main railway station, to cause maximum damage.

Police said the bombs were timed to explode during Pakistan's Independence Day celebrations Aug. 14, but exploded earlier because of their crude mechanism.

The blasts shattered windows in several buildings and houses and created panic among the people, but caused no serious damage, police said.
