SINGAPORE, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Singapore's new prime minister, Lee Hsien Loon, who will be officially sworn in Thursday, included few surprises in announcing his Cabinet lineup Tuesday.
Former Prime Minister Goh Tock Tong will become senior minister, the de facto number two in the government, and will also take over the chairmanship of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Former Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the prime minister's father, will carry the newly created title of "minister mentor."
Lee will also keep two long-serving ministers as his deputies. Tony Tan will remain as deputy prime minister and coordinating minister for security, though it was also announced he would retire next June and then be replaced by Wong Kan Seng, the home affairs minister.
Professor S. Jayakuma, the former foreign affairs minister, was promoted to deputy prime minister and minister for law. He will chair a Cabinet committee on foreign policy matters that cut across different ministries. He will also remain in charge of foreign policy issues that involve legal negotiations or international adjudication.
The prime minister will retain his post as finance minister.
