Malaysia, Singapore ties set to improve

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Malaysia will be able to strengthen bilateral relations with Singapore under the leadership of Lee Hsien Loong, said Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi.

In Shah Alam, Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Malaysia was hoping the change in Singapore's leadership would result in a more conducive atmosphere for the two countries to pursue talks on various outstanding issues.

He said he hoped discussions on issues relating to the pricing and supply of water to Singapore and the withdrawal of Central Provident Fund contributions by Malaysian workers could be resumed, The Star reported.
