Elderly couple jailed for son's heroin

SUFFOLK, England, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- An elderly British couple who kept their son's heroin in their house are hoping to get out of jail before December, the BBC reported Tuesday.

George Elliot, 75, and Gwendoline, 72, were convicted in Norwich Crown Court on a drug possession charge and have begun a six-month sentence. With good behavior they are expected to be released in about 12 weeks.

Their son, Christopher, has yet to be prosecuted for the heroin police found in a raid at the residence.

The couple's daughter says she had expected a community-based sentence for her parents.

"I'm disgusted to be honest -- two old people, knowing their health conditions, mainly my dad's," said Kathleen Elliot.

"(My mother) has to look after him. He can't do a lot for himself. He has his good days and bad days."
