Family feud leaves seven dead

KAKOGAWA, HYOGO, Japan, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Seven people from two families died and another was seriously injured in western Japan Monday in an apparent act of revenge related to a family feud.

Yasutaka Fujishiro, 47, admitted to fatally stabbing the seven members of two Fujishiro families in Kakogawa, Hyogo prefecture. He was arrested and remains in police custody, the Mainichi Shimbun reported Monday.

He told police that he did it because he had "a long-standing grudge against them," the paper said.

Killed in the rampage in one home were an 80-year-old woman and her two sons, in their 50s, while in another house nearby a 64-year-old man, his wife and their two children were killed. All the victims were stabbed to death.

The culprit is a nephew of one of the victims and lives with his mother near the victims' homes.

Another 50-year-old woman sustained massive stab wounds and remained fighting for her life in the hospital.
