BOSTON, July 29 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry set a military tone from the very start of his nomination acceptance speech Thursday night.
After stirring, warm-up introductions from fellow Vietnam veterans Jim Rassmann and former Democratic Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia, Kerry swept up to the podium in Boston's FleetCenter and declared "I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty."

"I've learned the pride of our freedom and I am determined to restore that pride to all who look to America," Kerry declared in ringing tones to the packed auditorium.
"My parents inspired me to serve," he said.
"We believed we could change the world and you know what? We did."
