Israel: Iran renews nuclear efforts

TEL AVIV, Israel, July 27 (UPI) -- Israeli Military Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Yaalon Tuesday recommended diplomatic efforts ne used to get Iran off the nuclear track.

Yaalon told Israel's Channel 1 TV Iran, during recent weeks, has revived its nuclear program.

Said Yaalon: "So far they are not succeeding in attaining a (nuclear) capability, but they are determined. This should trouble the United States, Europe, also the moderate Arab states. All these would be threatened by an Iran with a nuclear (capability)."

Israel bombed the Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1982 and Yaalon was asked about another possible Israeli attack in Iran.

"We saw that diplomatic pressure has its potential and that should be exhausted," he answered.
