Egypt welcomes settlement of PA crisis

CAIRO, July 27 (UPI) -- Egypt Tuesday welcomed Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia's decision to withdraw his resignation.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abu Ghait said Egypt applauds the settlement of the Palestinian government crisis, describing it "a good thing and useful development."

Abu Ghait, whose country offered security assistance after Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, said he will travel to Ramallah soon at the invitation of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Qureia withdrew his resignation Tuesday after Arafat gave him powers over Palestinian security agencies.
