Adults charged in kiddie shooting

HOUSTON, July 22 (UPI) -- A Houston woman and her 17-year-old son have been charged in the shooting of a 6-year-old girl by her 3-year-old cousin.

Clara Lopez and her son Luis Fernando Orozco were charged with making a handgun accessible to a child, a Class A misdemeanor, in the July 6 shooting at their home, the Houston Chronicle said.

The girl was shot in the leg by her cousin, who found a .25-caliber pistol in Orozco's bedroom, sheriff's detectives said.
