Canyon cleared in search for Utah jogger

SALT LAKE CITY, July 21 (UPI) -- The search for a missing Utah woman was expanded Wednesday after police determined she wasn't in the canyon where she reportedly had been jogging.

Volunteers were being used Wednesday to pass out fliers about the disappearance of Lori Hacking, who was reported missing after failing to return from a Monday morning run through City Creek Canyon.

Police officials told reporters Tuesday night the canyon and surrounding hills had been scoured by search teams, and it appeared Hacking, who is five months pregnant, was probably no longer in the area. The case was still being considered a missing persons investigation, although the possibility she was kidnapped had not been ruled out.

Hacking's husband, Mark, was staying with relatives and out of the public view Wednesday. His car and that of his missing wife were searched by police, who indicated nothing of any significance to the search was found.
