U.S. Guardsman charged in Internet sting

DETROIT, June 29 (UPI) -- A Michigan Air National Guardsman home from bomb-building in Iraq has been charged in Detroit with trying to arrange an online date with a 13-year-old girl.

Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans announced the arrest of John Price, 22, whom deputies said they caught in an undercover sting.

Price has only been home for three weeks from Iraq where he worked at assembling bombs for U.S. fighter jets, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Four male investigators posing as young girls spent two days chatting online with Price, during which time Price allegedly wrote that he wanted to meet the girl and have sex with her, said sheriff's department spokesman John Roach.

Price was charged Monday with felonies for illegal use of the Internet, possession of child pornography and attempting to create child pornography.

If convicted on all the charges, he faces up to 44 years in prison.
