Echo gas-powered yard tools recalled

LAKE ZURICH, Ill., June 29 (UPI) -- Echo Inc., of Lake Zurich, Ill., has voluntarily recalled 540,000 grass trimmers and other yard equipment because they could pose a fire hazard.

The fuel lines of the Echo-brand grass trimmers, brush cutters, hedge clippers, power blowers and power edgers could develop an "alligator surface," which could develop into a condition that would allow leakage of gasoline and fuel vapor causing fire hazard to consumers, reports the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
