Study: parents not keen on kids' schools

PRINCETON, N.J., June 22 (UPI) -- Parents' opinions of U.S. public schools is decling according to a New Jersey study, USA Today reported Tuesday.

The percentage of parents who give U.S. public schools a grade of A has dropped from 8 percent in 2001 to 2 percent currently, and only 20 percent of parents give schools a B, down from 35 percent, according to a survey released by the Educational Testing Service of Princeton, N.J.

Forty-five percent of parents surveyed for the ETS study gave schools a C, up from 33 percent in 2001.

Adults in general apparently have a slightly higher opinion of public schools than they did in 2001: a few more adults gave schools a B and fewer gave them a C. The percentage who gave schools a D or F was unchanged.
